REASI, Sept 14: A total of over 40 disabled children hailing from various parts of district Reasi were provided appliances in a camp organized by Education Department, under the component Inclusive Education for Disables (IED) of SSA, here today.
The appliances include 11 NSIED kits, 8 hearing aids, 10 wheel chairs, 5 CP chairs, 4 smart canes and 12 AFO, KFO and HKFO. It was informed that the appliances were manufactured strictly according to a survey conducted with the help of teachers taking into view requirements and fitness standards of the children.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Education Officer, Bishan Singh Jaral informed that apart from appliances, district level resource cell has also been set up at Seela for providing training to special children to ensure their mainstreaming. Apart from this, training is also provided to teachers, he added.
It was ensured to the children that there is provision for replacement and repairs of the tools and appliances at resource centre.
A total of 6 such IED camps would be held across the district in this year for screening of the handicaps besides distributing appliances of various categories to the beneficiaries.
On the occasion, Zonal Education Officers, Zonal Education Planning Officers, Teachers and local people were also present.
