JAMMU, Sept 14: Rotary Club of Jammu in collaboration with ‘Sachdeva Netralaya’ is going to organize a free Eye Check Up, Eye Treatment, Eye Transplant and Eye Donation Awareness Camp under the slogan “Gift of Sight” on September 15 at Gurudwara Sahib, Chattha, Jammu.

This was disclosed by Sunil Kumar Sawhney, president, Rotary Club of Jammu, and others while addressing a press conference here today. He said around 150 – 200 people from Chattha and nearby villages like Bhour Camp, Lower Gadigarh, etc will be benefited from this noble initiative.
“A team of Ophthalmologists and paramedical staff from ‘Sachdeva Netralaya’ shall render their services in the camp. Patients will undergo eye checkups by the team of specialist doctors and will be given consultations and medicine free of cost”, Sawhney informed.
The Rotary Club president said that the aim of this camp is to diagnose the patients for further treatment, surgeries related to eyes, cataract, Cornea transplant etc. Those diagnosed will be treated at Sachdeva Netralaya and other Rotary associated hospitals, free of cost in phased manner during coming months.
Dr Sanjay Sachdeva, Opthalmologist and CEO, Sachdeva Netralaya said, “Sachdeva Netralaya has played a pivotal role in comprehensive and sustainable rural development and has emerged as a successful rural healthcare model. The hospital has been organizing medical camps regularly in economically backward region for screening, diagnosis and treatment and has been able to serve the mankind”.
Dr Gaurav Vaid said that Rotary is already running a project “Gift of Life” in which free of cost heart surgeries are being conducted at National Heart Institute and Fortis Escorts, Delhi. “This is a very successful project in which more than 600 children are benefited from Jammu and Kashmir”, he added.
Dr Navneet Gupta, Club Secretary, Prem Shankar Singh, Harbans Singh, Deepak Baboo and many other Rotarians were also present.
