Jammu, Sept 14: Dr. Vivak M. Arya, Assistant Professor, SKUAST-Jammu got best research paper award in 26th national conference on “Natural Resource Management for Climate Smart Sustainable Agriculture (NRMCSSA-2017) at CPGS, CAU campus, Barapani, Shillong today.
The award was presented by Governor of Meghalaya Banwarilal Purohit and Minister for Soil & Water Conservation Ronnie V. Lyngdoh.
The valedictory function was attended by eminent scientists from across the country including Dr. P.K. Sharma, VC, SKUAST Jammu, Dr. Moirangthem Premjit Singh, VC, CAU Imphal, Dr.Anshuman Kohli, Dr. J.Sinha, Dr Lala IP Ray, Dr.Suraj Bhan, Dr.Sanjay Arora, Dr.Manmohanjeet Singh, Dr.Hadda & Dr.Ajay Bhardwaj.
The paper entitled “Effect of conservation modules on SQI in rainfed orchards of Jammu zone” discussed about the importance of conservation agriculture practices especially in context of changing climate and for maintaining soil quality. The paper also discussed socioeconomic aspect of climate change and its impact on horticulture and agriculture.
The paper gave solution to the issues pertaining to the extreme weather events and changing pattern of horticulture and agriculture in State.
