40th KVs Regional Science Exhibition held

JAMMU, Nov 5: 40th Jawahar Lal Nehru 2-day Science Exhibition organized by NCERT at Regional Level commenced at KV Sunjuwan, here today.
The theme of the Exhibition is “Science and Society”, while the various sub themes are Industry, Natural Resources and their Conservation, Transport & Communication, Community Health & Environment, Information and Communication and Mathematical Modeling.
In this exhibition, 25 KVs, 87 students and 27 escorts from Udhampur, Pathankot, Amritsar and Jammu are participating representing six Models/Exhibits on six different sub themes.
To popularize the Mathematical aptitude in students a seminar on “ Year Of Mathematics 2012” was also conducted. A Science quiz was organized in which the students displayed their awareness and knowledge.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was A S Gill, Officiating Deputy Commissioner, KVS(JR), Jammu and other dignitaries included Prof Rajni Kant Deptt of Physics, Dr Yash Pal Deptt of Bio Science, Dr KK Kapoor Deptt. of Chemistry, Dr Pavneesh Gupta Deptt of Computer Science of Jammu University. Dr Sumbodh Kumar, Deptt of Mathematic, MAM College, Jammu and Sunil Gupta PGT(Maths), MVM, Sainik Colony, Jammu.
The chief guest AS Gill was cordially welcomed by Principal Mr. Tilak Raj Choudhary, staff and students. The Principal TR Choudhary highlighted the importance of organizing Science Exhibitions. To mark the occasion the students presented a colourful cultural bonanza.
The chief guest AS Gill motivated the teachers to promote the scientific temper of the students as small ideas, experiments and innovations lead to big ideas and inventions. He also inaugurated the exhibition and surveyed the exhibits presented by the students and lauded their efforts.
