District Level Inter-School Athletic Meet begins

JAMMU, Sept 18: District Level Inter School Athletic Meet for boys and girls under the age groups of 14, 17 and19 years got underway at BSF Paloura, here today.
In all, 851 students from Private and Govt. Institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competitions.
Earlier, the Meet was declared open by Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu in a simple and well attended function.
While addressing the participants, he said that sports and games are the best media to remain fit and develop personality.
Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jammu, who is Organizing Secretary of the Meet, was also present on the occasion.
The Meet is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services & Sports, J&K.
The main objective of the Meet is to select the athletes for the upcoming Meet.
Earlier, High Jump Under-19 boys final, Sourav Kumar of KV No-2 bagged gold, while Abrar Choudhary of HSS Sunjwan won silver and Munish of JSS claimed bronze.
In High Jump Under-17 boys final, Manu Kumar of GHS Panjgrain clinched gold, Shahid Choudhary of GHS Chowadi bagged silver and Imtiyaz of KBPS claimed bronze and in Under-14 boys final, Zaffron of KBPS won gold, Anas Khan of GHS Bansultan clinched silver and Tabish of BSF Paloura claimed bronze.
In Shot Put Under-19 boys final, Mohd Saleem of HSS Sunjwan won gold, Dushal Singh of HSS Pargwal bagged silver and Hardeep Singh of APS Miran Sahib claimed bronze, while in Shot Put Under-17 boys final, Karma Dowa Dechan of SRML won gold, Mukhtar Ali of HSS Kheri bagged silver and Manya Mir of Banyan International claimed bronze. In Shot Put Under-14 boys final, Sumit Sharma of BSF Paloura won gold, Mohd Asif of KBPS clinched silver and Aryan Sharma of DBN clinched bronze.
In 5000 meters boys final, Ajay Kumar of SRML, Arjun Singh of HSS Rabta and Rohan Singh of HS Surinsar claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
