UDHAMPUR, Sept 18: MLA Udhampur, Pawan Gupta declared open District Cricket Tournament in a Impressive function at Subash Sports Stadium, here today.
The Tournament is being organized by Udhampur based Working Committee members of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) namely Sham Swaroop Kalsotra, Chander Mohan Sharma, Ajay Sharma and Rajan Singh.
16 teams will be participating in the tournament. While addressing a large gathering of players and sports enthusiasts, Pawan Gupta said that sports have a vital role to channelize the youth energy, physical and mental health and character of the future generation of the Nation.
He also said that very soon Subash Sports Stadium Udhampur will be facilitated with all modern facilities.
The opening match of the tournament was played between Singh XI and Rising Stunner. After winning the toss, Rising Stunner scored 138 runs in 20 overs after electing to bat first. Manmohan and Manjeet were the top scorers, contributing 26 runs each. While chasing the target, Singh XI bundled out for 115 runs in 19.3 overs and Rising Stunner won the match easily.
