Real Kashmir, JKP win ties; IUST holds Al-Bilal FC to 1-1 draw

SRINAGAR, Sept 19:  In the ongoing State Football League event, three A-Division, Super-Division and Premier Division matches were played at Polo Ground and Synthetic Turf TRC venues, here.
In the first A-Division match, played at Polo Ground, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) team played a 1-1 draw with Al-Bilal FC. Both the teams tried their best to outwit each other, but missed several chances to score and had to content with a 1-1 draw.
While Nadeem scored the lone goal for Al-Bilal, Mohsin was the scorer for the IUST team.
In Super-Division match played at Synthetic Turf TRC, Real Kashmir FC thrashed Young Maharaja by six goals to nil in a one-sided affair. Noman Manzoor played some exceptional football throughout the game scoring five back-to-back goals for the winning team while Faisal Baba scored one.
In Premier-Division match also played at Synthetic Turf TRC, J&K Police XI defeated J&K State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) team by two goals to one in a closely contested encounter. Both the teams played attacking football and JKSPDC team took the lead in the 14th minute of the match with Bilal opening the account for his team. In the dying minutes of the first half, Tanveer scored an equalizer for Police team and the half time ended with score line reading 1-1.
In the second half, both the team continued to attack each others goalpost, but in 68th minute of the match, Yaseen managed to score the second goal for the Police team. JKSPDC team got several opportunities to score, but wasted those thus losing the match by 2-1. Riyaz Ahmad of JK Police team was awarded man of the match for his performance.
Meanwhile, every day thousands of football fans are watching the keenly contested matches not only in Srinagar, but in other district headquarters of Kashmir. At Srinagar’s Synthetic Turf Football Stadium, not even a single seat remains free in the evenings with football spectators from all corners of the city converging at the venue to support their favourite teams and the clubs.
More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the first of its kind in the history of J&K football.
“The aim of holding such a mega event is to unearth the hidden talent across the State,” the organizers claim.
