KATHUA, Sept 20: The domestic violence has claimed the life of a house wife while her husband is serious after the duo consumed the poisonous substance in their home at village Mangali, Hatli area under the jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police Station today.
Police said, the unfortunate incident took place when a young women of two children, 30 years Bandana wife of Pawan Singh resident of Mangali brought to District Hospital Kathua at 3 AM in critical condition as she consumed some poisonous substances. She was immediately shifted to GMC Jammu in critical condition but died on way near Samba. The body of woman was brought back to Kathua Hospital for postmortem. Soon after her husband Pawan Singh was also brought to hospital in critical condition as he has also consumed some poisonous substances and was later referred to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment.
The family members of Bandana Devi assemble in the District Hospital Kathua and accused her husband for instigating her to commit suicide after beating her. The family members also accused the family members of Pawan Singh for killing their daughter as the routine domestic violence was taken place.
Following the situation Additional SP Kathua, Khalil Ahmed Poswal along with police team reached the hospital and listened the deceased family members.
The Lakhanpur Police led by SHO Kulbir Singh immediately swung into action and detained the father and brother of Pawan Singh for questioning. An investigation under Section 174 RPC has been initiated and police has questioned the in-laws of the house wife. The dead body of deceased Bandana Devi was handed over to her family members for last rites after postmortem. The ASP Khalil Poswal said “we are investigating the matter and the Section 174 may convert in other Section following the circumstance of crime and evidence of crime scene”.
