Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday celebrated with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Sept 22: Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birthday was celebrated at DPS Nagbani with great fervour and enthusiasm, here today.
All the students very happily took part in birthday celebrations of the ‘last Monarch from the Royal House of Jammu & Kashmir’ who ascended the throne in 1925.
The celebrations started with the speeches given on the life of the Maharaja by the student of different classes which was followed by a series of programmes including Dogri songs and a skit depicting the reforms which were introduced by the Maharaja.
The Principal of the school, RK Verma addressed the students and said that Maharaja Hari Singh was a great educationist and his endeavours to promote literacy in the state were inclusive of women’s education, Primary and Secondary education was free besides making primary education compulsory in 1930.
New National Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib organised a lecture on the occasion of 122nd birth anniversary of Maharaja Bahadur Hari Singh Ji, the saviour of our freedom.
Harmeet Kour welcomed the resource person, other speakers and the audience. Kr. Abhimanyu Dev Singh Billawaria, Director Communication County and an active member of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage Jammu Chapter) was the resource person who spoke on Maharaja Hari Singh.
Students of senior classes who spoke on the life of Maharaja Hari Singh included Smiley, Kavleen, Simranjot, Ansh, Aman, Tavleen, Pradeep and Mantej.
