Altaf inaugurates Aadhaar enrolment centre for school children

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today inaugurated Aadhaar enrolment centre for students up to higher secondary level, of Srinagar at Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary School on the institute’s annual day celebration function.
On the occasion, Project Director Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Abdul Rashid War, who is also Registrar for Aadhaar enrolment of school children, informed that around 14 lakh students in Jammu and Kashmir are yet to be enrolled for the Aadhaar facility.
In this regard, as many as 100 Aadhaar enrolment centres have been set up in Phase-1 in six districts of the State which includes Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Dodha, Kishtwar and Samba. The rest of districts will be covered in Phase-2 for which the necessary equipment, machinery and other measures are being undertaken.
The Minister said that through the enrollment process, teachers and their families who have not yet availed the facility can be covered as well.
On the occasion, several cultural items, skits and programmes highlighting social and environmental issues, were performed by various groups of girl students and teachers of the Higher Secondary School.
Addressing the audience, Bukhari said that girls are honour and a blessing for the society. He said that Kothi Bagh HSS has a huge contribution in the deliverance of education to girl students in Kashmir. He promised that this school will be developed in such a way so that it comes up as one of the fine schools of the State.
Later, the Minister distributed mementoes and certificates among the students who fared well in academics and various extra-curricular activities. He also announced Rs 5000 as a token of appreciation to music teacher, Sabiha for the better guidance to the music students.
Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah was the guest of honour. The function was also attended by Director School Education, Kashmir, Dr G.N Itoo, Project Director SSA, Abdul Rashid War, CEO Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Principals of various colleges and other concerned officials.
