JAMMU: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi today called for developing eco-friendly environment through rejuvenation of parks in and around Jammu city to attract tourist influx towards Jammu.
During her visit to Nagrota Park at Karan Nagar and Panj Peer Manda Park, the Minister directed the concerned officials for better upkeep of the parks.
Priya Sethi stressed upon the concerned officers for close monitoring to ensure proper maintenance of parks and green patches as they provide inherent environmental benefits to the people. She said that the government is determined to provide requisite facilities in all parks across the region to facilitate the people with recreational environment.
Stressing on preserving the environment, the Minister directed the concerned officers for creating special facilities for nature lovers while ensuring the maintenance and beautification during certain developmental works.
The Minister impressed upon the functionaries to organize massive awareness programmes on need and importance of developing healthy environment across the region. She exhorted upon the concerned to further intensify efforts to increase green cover. She directed the concerned to take requisite steps to upgrade the existing facilities and make these places more attractive for the visitors. She said environment parks are the lungs of Jammu city which need to be equipped with basic amenities.
Director Floriculture Jammu Babila Rakwal and Executive Engineer Tourism besides senior functionaries of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
