JAMMU, Oct 13: Inter-Collegiate Tournaments in different disciplines, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu were played ay Gymnasium Hall and Sports Stadium of the varsity, here today.
Inter-Collegiate Wrestling Tournament was held at Gymnasium Hall of University of Jammu, in which 12 different affiliated colleges participated. The overall championship trophy was won by GDC Akhnoor with 13 points and GDC Bishnah remained runner-up with 10 points.
In 57 kg, Ajit Malhotra of GDC Akhnoor and Makhan Din of GDC Samba bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Radha Sham of GDC Kathua and Paramveer Singh of GDCPaloura bagged bronze medals.
In 61 kg, Riaz Mohd of PG Department and Vikrant of MAM College bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Manjeet Singh of GDC Reasi and Kulbir Singh of GDC Rajouri secured bronze medals.
In 65 kg, Mohd Farooq of GDC Bishnah and Ajay Kumar of GDC Reasi bagged gold and silve medals respectively, while Bhupinder Singh of PG Department and Atul Goswami of GDC Ramnagar bagged bronze medals.
In 70 kg, Abhinay Deep of GDC Kathua and Harsh Pawar of GDC Akhnoor clinched gold and silver medals respectively, while Anil Sharma of GDC Ramnagar and Nishal Singh of GGM Science College bagged bronze medals.
In 74 kg, Rahul Kumar of GDC Khour and Abhishek of GDC Kathua bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Rahul Singh Charak of PG Department and Mohd Aftab of MAM College bagged bronze medals.
In 86 kg, Ankush Sharma of GDC Akhnoor and Rajat Kumar of GDC Khour bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Sangram Singh of GDC Kathua and Dillawar Khan of GDC Samba secured bronze medals.
In 97 kg, Reham Ali of GDC Bishnah and Chandan Sharma of MAM College bagged gold and silver medals, while Gaurav Singh of GDC Samba and Rahul Sabherwal of PG Department bagged bronze medals.
The bouts were officiated by Jai Bharat, Bansi Lal Tadiyal, Mulkh Raj Sharma and Sahil Sharma.
Inter Collegiate Kabbadi Tournament for women was organized at Sports Stadium, University of Jammu, here.
In the summit clash, GWC Gandhi Nagar beat PG Department by 29 points (50-21).
The match officials were Dheeraj Sharma, Keshav Singh, Amandeep, Harpreet Singh, Rohit and Gagan Kumar.
PG Department defeated GCW Parade by (3-0) sets with set score 25-15, 25-15 and 25-18 respectively and lifted the title trophy of the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament for women organized at Sports Stadium, University of Jammu.
Shiwali Dogra, Shivali Kumari, Rohini Devi and Bhavna Sharma were the star performers of the match and lead PG Department to mark its win while Taniya Chib and Harjinder Kour also fought well from GCW Parade.
Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest in the final match and awarded the winning trophy in presence of Dr Brij Baloria, Romesh Singh Jasrotia, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Suman Lata, Gagan Kumar and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
The match was officiated by Manik Nargotra, Amit Sharma, Mulkh Raj and Naresh Kumar.
