BHADERWAH, Oct 17: Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Bhaderwah won the last ball thriller by hitting a massive six to clinch the title trophy of the first ever Girls Cricket Tournament organized by Bhaderwah Police under Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Government Higher Secondary School Boys, here.
The high octane final match played between Atkhar Public School (APS) and Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Bhaderwah kept hundreds of spectators on toes as with every ball, the momentum kept on changing.
After winning the toss, APS elected to bat and posted an impressive 83 runs in stipulated 10 overs. GGHSS started the chase nervously as they could not cope up with the tight bowling and extraordinary fielding of APS.
In the last over, it looked that APS will win the match easily as GGHSS needed 15 runs, in the first 2 balls, 2 fours were hit followed by 2 dot balls. On the second last ball, a single was taken making it more difficult for Priya Bhagat as her team needed 6 runs on the last ball, but she hit a massive six to win the match and coveted trophy for her team.
Although APS loss the match but every spectators and distinguished guests were all praise for their energetic performance.
Later, prize distribution function was held in which DFO Bhaderwah Vivek Verma was the chief guest, while Additional SP Bhaderwah Rajinder Singh presided over the function. Beside winners and runners-up trophies, cash prizes were also given to both the teams.
Among others present were SDPO Bhaderwah Brijesh Sharma, SHO Bhaderwah Munir Khan and Principal Shabnam Nigar.
