JAMMU, Oct 20: Talented batsman Musaif Ajaz scored a cracking century as Jammu Rising Stars registered an emphatic victory over Jammu Challengers Eleven in a super-over to lift the “2nd Diwali Cricket Championship for Under-16 boys by 3-2 in a five match series at MA Stadium, here today.
Prof JP Singh Jooral, Director HRDC Jammu University was the Chief Guest, while Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Jammu District Sports Council was the Special Guest. Rajesh Gill was the Coordinator.
Later on, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed the trophies among the winners and runners-up teams.
Earlier, in the last match of the Championship, Jammu Rising Stars scored 156 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 25 overs. Musaif was the main scorer with unbeaten 103 runs, including 10 boundaries, while Abhay Tandon contributed valuable 22 runs to the total. Shiv Sagar chipped in with 13 runs.
From Jammu Challengers Eleven, Sachin took 2 wickets, while Prayas claimed 1 wicket.
Jammu Challengers Eleven, in reply also made 156 runs in the stipulated 25 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Surya top scored with 34 runs, Akshit (30) and Sachin (20).
From bowling side, Ashim Nanda took 2 wickets, while Abhay Tandon, Musaif and Amit took 1 wicket each.
In super-over, batting first, Jammu Challengers made 11 runs and Jammu Rising Stars won the match by scoring 12 runs on the last ball.
Musaif was adjudged as the man of the match for his superb batting display.
The match was officiated by Sandeep Manchanda and Shugal as umpires, while famous anchor RP Singh conducted the proceedings of the programme.
