AKHNOOR, Oct 22: Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor registered a thrilling 2-run victory over strong Parade Cricket Association (PSA) Jammu XI in the Veteran Cricket Cup Akhnoor at Govt Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier winning the toss and batting first, Singh Cricket Club scored a good total of 159 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Deepak Sharma 88 off 44 balls was the top scorer, while Sonu Malhotra (19) and Mall Ditta (16) were the other contributors. Pardeep Bali, Sandeep Singh & Shahid shared 2 wickets each for PSA XI, while Sameer Khajuria claimed one wicket.
In reply, PSA Jammu managed to score 157runs and fell short of just 3 runs from the victory and lost the match by 2 runs. Pardeep Bali 33 off 29 balls was the top scorer, while Shahid (26), Akshay Khajuria (19), Sameer Khajuria (17) and Sanjay Sharma (17) were the other contributors. Rajinder Sharma took 3 wickets for SCC Akhnoor, while Deepak Sharma claimed 2 wickets. Sonu Malhotra, Sham Singh Langeh and Raman Gupta shared 1 wicket each. Deepak Sharma was declared as the man of the match.
Sunil Sharma and Jimmy Mangotra were the umpires and Sunny Mahi was the scorer, while the tournament is being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor, under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, President Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
