Gujarat thrashes J&K by innings & 64 runs

JAMMU, Oct 26: Defending championship Gujarat defeated capricious Jammu and Kashmir by an innings and 64 runs in the Ranji Trophy Group-B match at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat in Gujarat.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 276/4, Gujarat scored 455 runs, with overnight batsmen Manprit Juneja (131) and Chirag Gandhi (86) being the main contributors. For J&K, leg spinner Manik Gupta took 5 important wickets by conceding 143 runs in his 29 overs, while Parvez Rasool bagged 4 wickets by giving away 108 runs in 49 overs. Amir Aziz also took 1 wicket.
In the second essay, J&K bundled out for a paltry total of 130 runs. Ramdayal top scored with 39 runs, while Rasool and Bnadeep Singh contributed 24 runs each. Hardik Patel was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat, who scalped 5 wickets, while Piyush Chawla bagged 4 and Chintan Gaja claimed one.
