Lal Singh inaugurates Open State Hockey Championship

SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Chowdhary Lal Singh and President Hockey Association J&K,  Kanta Andotra  inaugurated ‘Open State Hockey Championship’ here at Polo ground.
On the occasion, the Minister said that the State Government wants to promote sports activities and ‘Khelo India’ a Central government scheme would help in promoting sports activities across the State.
“We will provide every possible help in the form of facilities to the association and to the youth to create interest among them in sports for their overall personality development,” he added.
Mrs Andotra said that with the help from Sports Ministry, the J&K Hockey Association will revive the game in J&K.
“Our priority is our children and we will not let them down. We have full support from Centre to promote the game here”.
Pertinently, 12 teams from valley are participating in the event and opening match was played between Mahindra Hockey Club Baramulla and Young Hockey Club Anantnag.
