JAMMU, Oct 31: The 41st Annual Athletic Meet of Sainik School Nagrota got off to a colourful start at the school stadium, here today.
Participating contingents presented an impressive march past, after which the meet was declared open by the chief guest, Capt A. Muthuraman, Principal of the school.
In his inaugural address, the chief guest called for the need to develop and uphold true sportsman spirit and camaraderie amongst the cadets.
During this annual competition held over a period of three days, various inter-house track and field events will be held in both junior as well as senior categories.
Subsequent to the march past by the cadets, the athletic torch was lit by the Sports Captain Cadet Saurav Kumar who further administered the oath to the contesting athletes.
The highlights of the first day’s events include Cadet Jai Bharat Yadav, winning gold in 200 meters run (Juniors) and Cadet Sarfaraz Farooq, winning gold in 3000 meters run in the same category.
