Conference on ‘save reservations’ held

JAMMU Nov 11: The All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations held a one -day conference on the topic ‘save reservations’  and to mobilize the cadre for launching a campaign for the same among the masses.
The conference gave thrust to reservation in recruitment under Rebar-e-Taleem, Sehat and Zirat, Adhoc/Temporary appointments/Anganwari workers/SPOs/NRHM and other State/Central schemes funded by the Government.
It accused the Government for its failure to implement special component plan within the stipulated time, reservation in promotion in all departments and demanded stopping tampering with SRO-110 of 2000 and making corrections in seniority list, implementation of Mandal Commission report in toto in J&K and  stopping of caste based atrocities.
A large number of social/religious organizations participated in the conference. Prominent among them included representatives of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Dalit Liberation Front, J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Tehrik-e-Insaf, All J&K Scheduled Caste Welfare Association, Dalit Sahitya Akademy, Bhagat Mahasabha, J&K Gujjar United Front, Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha, State Baazigar(Banjara) OBC Association, Gujjar Bakerwal Student Welfare Association, All J&K Christian Forum, All J&K Rural Christian Association and political leaders cutting across party lines.
Addressing the participants, the State president R. K. Kalsotra, read the agenda and invited all those present for participation in the mass rally to be held at Ramlila Ground at New Delhi on November 26. He asked the participants to get ready for a mass protest rally this year against the Government for enactment of Reservation Act, reservation in private sector and promotion, economic empowerment, stoppage of manual scavenging, improving the plight of sweepers, political reservation for scheduled tribes to protect ST status from dilution and implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations in J&K State in toto.
Galson Narbu, MLC,  R.L. Bharti, President SC Welfare Association, Shah Mohammad, President Gujjar United Front, Mukhtyar Kalia, Vijay Bhagat,  Ashok Bhagat, Ch. Sajjad, general secretary of the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust, Ch. Ghulam Rasool, general secretary of the Congress ST Cell, Sanjay Bhagat, Girdhari Lal Bhagat, Sagar Anand Gill and Marks Gill also expressed their views.
