JAMMU, Nov 5: The Centre Government’s Special Representative on Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma will reach Srinagar tomorrow on a five-day visit of the State to open dialogue with stakeholders.
According to sources, Dineshwar was likely to stay in the Kashmir valley for three days followed by two-day visit to Jammu region.
The Home Ministry had given rank of the Cabinet Secretary to Dineshwar Sharma, a retired Director of Intelligence Bureau, while designating him as its Special Representative on Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, hardline Hurriyat Conference faction today claimed that a State Government representative sought meeting with its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani to facilitate talks with Dineshwar Sharma.
“A State representative on intervening night of November 4 and 5 expressed his desire to meet Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani to facilitate his meeting with the Interlocutor,” a spokesman of hardline faction said in a statement here. The Hurriyat however, didn’t reveal who the representative was and whether he met Geelani or not.
The Hurriyat said that they won’t become part of the dialogue process. “It is mere rhetoric and wastage of time…no section of Hurriyat or group will meet Dineshwar Sharma or participate in this futile exercise,” said the hardline separatist faction.
