JAMMU, Nov 12: A workshop on Goods and Services Tax Act was conducted by the Commercial Taxes Department in collaboration with the National Depository Limited here today.
Senior officers of the Commercial Taxes Department, stake holders including Traders, Advocates, Sales Tax Practitioners and Chartered Accountants participated in the workshop. The day long workshop was inaugurated by Commissioner Commercial Taxes Kifayat Hussain Rizvi.
Mr. Rizvi impressed upon the participants to take full advantage of the workshop to understand the overall concepts of GST.
Welcoming the participants Additional Commercial, Commercial Taxes, (Administration), Jammu P. I. Khateeb briefed the participants about the progress made with regard to implementation of GST in India and possibility of implementation of this progressive tax regime in the State.
Participants actively interacted with the NSDL team comprising of Abidali Allarakhia and Mustafa Shiyaji and had hands on experience on the procedure of registrations, returns and payments envisaged for the new GST regime.
