JAMMU, Nov 12 : A large delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, met N N Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented to him their development-oriented demands.
The demands presented by the 15-member delegation led by Y V Sharma, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, included, interalia, setting up of a rail coach factory in Jammu Division, speedy construction of a Convention Centre at Jammu, installation of Gondola between Mubarak Mandi and Bagh-i-Bahu, provision of more fly-overs in Jammu city for better traffic management and implementing well considered measures for the promotion of tourism in Jammu region.
The delegation congratulated the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, for the construction of the Kalika Dham Complex at Railhead, Jammu being done on a fast pace and for the progress being achieved on various fronts, including the functioning of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the work on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence getting completed shortly. The delegation thanked the Governor for taking keen interest in the economic development of the State.
Interacting with the delegation, the Governor highlighted the important role which the Chambers of Commerce and Industry have to play in securing the steady and sustained economic growth of the State.
Referring to the various demands projected by the delegation, the Governor assured that he will take up all these issues with the concerned authorities in the Central and the State Governments.
The delegation included Sham Lal Langer, Senior Vice President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu; Anil Gupta, Junior Vice President; Arun Gupta, Secretary General; Deepak Aggarwal, Secretary; and Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Treasurer of this organization.
