NEW DELHI:Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Leonard She Okitundu, who is on a visit to India, on Friday handed over a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
The letter is from the Congo President Joseph Kabila Kabange. “Vice PM and Foreign Minister DRC handed over a letter to EAM @SushmaSwaraj from DRC President Joseph Kabila Kabange addressed to Prime Minister @narendramodi,” MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
During their meting Ms Swaraj and the visiting dignitary discussed steps to further strengthen the bilateral relationship, especially in trade and investment, development efforts in Congo under Lines of Credit, he said.
In another tweet, the MEA spokesman said, “Strengthening our warm & friendly bilateral relations, EAM @SushmaSwaraj welcoming the Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo Leonard She Okitundu to India.” Both the countries share cordial and healthy bilateral relationships.
India was among the first countries to open a diplomatic mission in Kinshasa in 1962. India and the Republic of Congo were among the first countries to join the International Solar Alliance, proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on November 15, 2016. (AGENCIES)
