LEH, Nov 14: Week long Open Indoor Games Tournament organised by District Police in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) commenced today at Indoor Stadium.
The tournament was declared open by Deputy Commissioner, Tsering Angchuk today at Indoor Stadium Hall Leh.
In the week long open Indoor games, both boys and girls players including schools students are participating in Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carom Board and Kabaddi disciplines.
Addressing the players Deputy Commissioner, Tsering Angchuk appreciated Department of Police for organizing this tournament in continuity from last year.
He appraised the gathering that for development of Indoor games, Rs 7 crore Indoor Stadium project has already been submitted to the Government of India.
He assured to address the demands of players for providing indoor games equipments by discussing these issues with the Department of Youth Services and Sports very soon.
Earlier, Senior Superi-ntendent of Police (SSP), Vivek Gupta, presented the welcome address. He said that the main purpose of organizing Indoor games is to discover talents in different games.
SP, P Sonam, police officials and officers, local populace and sports lovers were also present.
