JAMMU, Nov 16: Dogri Sanstha Jammu released the first poetic collection of a young and upcoming poet Ranbir Chib at a function at K L Saigal Hall here today.
The released book, titled `Pattan Chanaah Da’, published by Highbrow Publishers, includes various genre of poetry including Nazm, Ghazals and Chamukhe.
Members of presidium, including Inspector General Police Dr S D Singh Jamwal, Prof Lalit Magotra (Convener Dogri at Sahitya Akademi) and Chhatrapal (president Dogri Sanstha) released the book in the presence of senior writers, poets and prominent members of society .
Speaking on the occasion Dr S D Singh Jamwal, who has two books on cultural history and many research papers to his credit, said that language is the carrier of culture and identity of a community and Dogri language is facing many challenges . The new generation should be encouraged to take up Dogri, he exhorted
Presiding over the function, Dr Lalit Magotra advised Ranbir Chib, a cop by profession, to go through the poetry of senior poets to refine his works. “The subjects of his poetry represent the sentiments of rural populace and support the human values,” he said and added that the poets and writers are sentinel of culture and command special position in society.
A brief critical review on the book was also presented by young critic Dr Brahm Dutt, illuminating merits of its form and content.
On the occasion, Ranbir Chib recited some choicest poems from his collection.
