LADAKH, Nov 21: The month of November brought immense joy to the people of Neyraqs village when they finally got connected to the main lands of Ladakh by a 100 feet portable steel bridge launched over the Zanskar river by 81 Road Construction Company of 762 Border Roads Task Force under Project Vijayak of Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
This bridge has been launched on the road which takes off from Langru at NH-1 and travels through Wangla, Fangila, Sumdo, Photoskar, Yalchung, and will terminate at Neyraqs. With the launching of this bridge and construction of this road, the villagers of Neyraqs can now drive through this motorable road to NH-1 within 4 hours which previously was taking more than 2 days by walk.
Again, the under construction Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road will also cross this road 1 km before this bridge. The construction of this road and the bridge will tremendously boost the tourism and socio-economic lifestyle of the people of these areas.
This was a herculean task to launch the bridge over Zanskar river at such a remote location and adverse climatic condition. To shift the parts of the bridge was a big challenge. But, the efficiency and dedication of 81 RCC made it very easy. In this connection, it is worth mentioning that they have launched another 80 ft bridge just at a distance of 1 km from Neyraqs along NPD road over Yalchung nallah in the last week of October.
It is worth mentioning here that the highly motivated team of Project Vijayak have made this almost impossible task possible under the leadership of SK Doon, Chief Engineer, Col Rajeev Lohani, Commander 762 BRTF, Arnab Chakraborty, OC 81 RCC, Manish Kumar, OIC and Saji  N, Sector I/C.
