Strive hard to achieve success: Azad to students

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad presenting Rolling Trophy to the students of Lawrence Public School at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University on Saturday.

JAMMU, Nov 17: Lawrence Public School today organised 2nd Edition of Investiture Ceremony for award of “Ghulam Nabi Azad Rolling Trophy” at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
A two-minute silence was observed before the start of the programme in the memory of two ex-students Sajid Iqbal Khandey and Ankit Suri.
The students of Lawrence Public School presented 50 minutes opera on “Save The Earth”, which was highly applauded by the audience.
On the occasion, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, presented “Ghulam Nabi Azad Rolling Trophy”.
The rolling trophy was presented to Meghna Sharma for securing fifth position in the board exams, whereas, four other position holders Richa Abrol, Kajal Sharma, Sundas Gazal and Mrinali Tickoo also received citations by the Union Minister.
On the occasion, special award were presented to ex-students who had excelled in their professional field, which included Dr Samya Mohan, who had secured 3rd position in MBBS this year, Tarun Gandotra, Vice Captain of the Indian Roller Skating team, Dr Usma Anwar Chowdhary, Doctor cum Businessman and Trilok Singh, known for his innovative cycle designs.
Shakuntla Joshi, Principal of the school in her address said that this trophy has been instituted to recognize students of the school, who have achieved remarkable success in various fields.
“The trophy is given for an act which is not just an individual success but has made Lawrence Public School proud”, she informed.
She added that the trophy is aptly dedicated to Union Health Minister, who himself epitomizes the spirit, which is behind this award.
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in his speech inculcated the importance of studies in the present era, where there is competition in each and every field.
He impressed upon the students to strive hard to achieve their desired goals so as to make the State proud in all respect vis-à-vis sports and academic.
Ghulam Nabi Azad laid stress on the need of moral education and highlighted the role of a teacher in crafting the personality of student.
