Goenkans celebrate 10th Annual Day with zeal, zest

JAMMU, Dec 9: GD Goenka Public School Jammu, governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust, celebrated 10th Annual Day ‘Aahvaan 2017’, amidst zest and zeal at the sprawling Goenkan acres, here today. Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion, while his wife Zubaida Zulfkar was the guest of honour.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp of knowledge. The other dignitaries to grace the occasion were Dewan Chand Bansal, Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Rahul Bansal, President, Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust & School Management Committee, Sanya Bansal, Director and Principal of the school, Rajesh Rathore.
The evening was reserved for a gala presentation. The annual day celebration was bound to be a befitting occasion for the spontaneous outburst of high spiritedness in a wide range of creativity.
The celebration began with welcome of guests and bouquet presentation by the members of School Management.
The programme commenced with Saraswati Vandana and Ganesh Vandana to seek blessings of Almighty.
It was followed by patriotic song by the school choir comprising talented singers and instrumentalists who depicted the ethos of soldiers and spread the message of love, peace and harmony.
Rajesh Rathore, Principal of the school presented school annual report highlighting the achievements of school for the year 2017. It was followed by an elaborate ‘Award ceremony’, wherein all the achiever were felicitated with prizes, medals and trophies.
The school and entire gathering witnessed a glittering bonanza of dances and a medley of songs, which captivated the audience.
The play “Shaheed Bhagat Singh”, left the audience enormously spellbound with a gripping enactment by the Goenkans. The play was an enchanting presentation and was a rich tribute to the sacrificial life of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh who struggled day and night for the freedom of mother India. Through the play, the school focused on disseminating the patriotic feeling which is the need of the hour and enabled the students to gain a unique entity.
While addressing the gathering, the chief guest expressed delight on the accomplishments of the school and urged the students to hone their talent to carve a niche for themselves and bring laurels to the state as well as their nation.
He lauded the efforts of Goenkan fraternity for staging such a patriotic play.
Aparna Verma, Vice Principal of the school proposed the vote of thanks. The event culminated with the singing of National Anthem.
