JAMMU, Nov 20: Hiranagar Club and Guru Nanak Club thrashed their respective opponents and entered into the next round of the ongoing Vijay Pal Memorial Hockey Tournament organised by Hockey J&K at Army field, Bandu Rakh, here today.
In the first half, Hiranagar Club defeated TA Army XI by three goals to two (3-2).
During the first half of the match, Parveen Kumar of TA Army XI pelted the opening goal in the 7th minute, whereas, Surjeet Singh netted another goal in the 15th minute, thus putting a pressure on its opponent team Hiranagar Club.
Pavinder Singh of Hiranagar Club netted the first goal for his team in 38th minute and the first half ended with 2-1 goals.
In the second half, Pavinder Singh again netted equalizer goal in the 44th minute, whereas, Vishal of Hiranagar Club also chipped in another goal in 57th minute, putting a lead of one goal over its opponent team TA Army XI.
After 57th minute, TA Army XI players strived hard to claim the match but in the last 10 minutes of the game, they were looking dominated onto the hands of Hiranagar Club and thus lost the match by 3-2 goals.
In another match of the day, Guru Nanak Club outplayed Zorawar Club by 3 goals to zero (3-0).
Ranveet Singh of Nanak Nagar Club netted the first goal in the 15th minute of the first half, which the opponent team tried their level best to equalize, but failed and the first half ended with one goal to zero (1-0).
In the second half, SP Singh pelted another goal in the 52nd minute and just after seven minutes, Ravneet Singh netted another goal, thus putting a lead of three goals over Zorawar Club.
After third goal of the match in the 59th minute, Zorawar Club players were looking dominated and thus paved way for its opponent team to enter the next round of the tournament.
The matches were officiated by Jagjeet Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Iqbal Singh, Manjeet Singh, GS Bakshi, Inderpal Singh, Jaswant Singh, MS Reen, Satbir and Kawaljeet.
On the occasion, SHO Gandhi Nagar Police Station Gurmeet Singh was the chief guest, while, VK Kohli, CEO, Hockey J&K and Romal Singh, general secretary, were the guest of honour.
In tomorrow fixture, Singh Club, Bandu Rakh will clash with Bhagat Singh Club.
The tournament is being organised under the supervision of Tajinder Singh.
