JAMMU, Dec 30: Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh today pooh-poohed the separatists’ boycott call for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Jammu Kashmir and said that they already stand exposed for their duplicity.
“The kind of duplicity that they had been exercising just to sustain their political agenda, which is separatism by convenience and not by conviction, stand exposed before the masses and by giving a call like this, they are only betraying their own insecurity and the lack of public support,” he said while talking to media persons, here today.
Dubbing the separatists as bunch of worthies who had never gone through the test of merit, Dr Jitendra Singh said that this lobby as well as their sympathizers in the so called mainstream political parties of Kashmir have abundantly got exposed themselves before the masses, particularly youth of Kashmir who are no longer ready to be pushed back into the retrograde era by a handful of self serving elements.

“Youth of Kashmir now want to be part of development journey of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They are aspiring, forward looking, progressing and this bears out testimony by the fact that even this year, we have 18-19 young boys and girls who qualified prestigious IIT, JEE exams. We have a topper every year invariably for the last few years from Kashmir valley and from most terrorist struck districts, which only shows that the youth of Kashmir have moved ahead,” he said.
On the reports of the Army crossing into Pakistan- occupied Kashmir and neutralizing a Border Action Team of the enemy , the Union Minister said that the entire nation had approved such kind of the ‘policy shift’ of giving befitting response to Pakistan for ceasefire violations.
“Unlike what was happening in the earlier decades, this is first time in the last 3-4 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that there has been a retaliatory action of befitting nature to each and every mischief of Pakistan side,” he said and added that this was something, which was also being appreciated by the people of border areas whose morale was very high.
It may be recalled that two days after an Indian Army Major and three Jawans were killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan on December 23 along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, three Pakistani soldiers were eliminated in retaliatory action by Indian troops after crossing into Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
In response to another query on purported controversy over purported registration of FIR against a school Principal for allowing hoisting of national tricolour by the RSS chief, Dr Jitendra Singh said that dragging national symbol of tricolour into a controversy or a debate does not behove well for healthy nation and healthy republic. “Tricolour is sacrosanct for each and every Indian regardless of political affiliation and belief,” he maintained.
