JAMMU, Jan 1: A two-day State level workshop by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), to develop textual material of `Punjabi’ regional language for secondary classes, began, here today.
Prof Veena Pandita, Chairp-erson / Secretary BOSE, presided over the programme while Dr Farooq Ahmed Peer, Director Academics, Dr Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Assistant Director, BOSE and Rajinder Singh, Co-ordinator Punjabi, were in the presidium.
Prof Veena Pandita, in her presidential address, stated that the main motive of this workshop is to amplify the ‘Punjabi’ language through the development of its textbooks. She also said that BOSE is developing, reviewing and revising textbooks in eight regional languages to meet the aspirations of local people. She further stressed upon the inclusion of the contents on moral and value education side by side inculcating regional and cultural ethos in the textbooks.
Dr Farooq Ahmed Peer, Director Academics, in his welcome address, stated that some of the regional languages have been introduced as a compulsory subject at secondary level and BOSE is making all efforts to make the curriculum, syllabi and textbooks updated as per the need of the hour.
Dr Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Assistant Director, in his speech, stressed upon the development of syllabi and textbooks of ‘Punjabi’ in consonance with the guidelines of National Curriculum Framework – 2005.
Participants included S Paramjeet Singh Bali, Prof Baljeet Kour, Prof Pritam Singh, Prof Surjeet Kour, S Rattan Singh Kanwal, Rajinder Singh and Rupinder Kour.
