AKHNOOR, Jan 2: Simula Cricket Club thrashed Shiva Cricket Club by a huge margin of 99 runs in the ongoing Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament, being organized by the PHE Department at Govt Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, put into bat, Simula Cricket Club scored a big total of 208 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Anshuman Sharma top scored with 60 runs, while Atul Sharma and Vivek Thappa contributed 57 and 35 runs to the total respectively. Raman Dutta chipped in with 18 runs. From Shiva CC Akhnoor, Vipan Verma bagged 3 wickets, while Martin and Tyabu shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Shiva Cricket Club Akhnoor bundled out for 109 runs in 18 overs. Akarsh Sharma (25), Armaan Chandan (25) and Dinesh Mahajan (22) were the main contributors. Ritik was the pick of the bowlers from Simula, who took 3 important wickets, while Raman Dutta and Vivek shared 2 wickets each and Kuldeep claimed 1 wicket. Anshuman Sharma was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant knock.
The match was officiated by Joginder Mangotra and Vikas Bali as umpires, while Sushil Gupta and Raman Sharma were the scorers.
Munish Anand, SDPO Akhnoor who was the chief guest on the occasion presented man of the match award to the winner.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Krishna Cricket Club Akhnoor will take on Khour CC at 10.30 am.
