JAMMU, Jan 2: To promote sports activities in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Vice Chairman JAKFED, Munish Sharma called on the Member of Parliament, Anurag Thakur here today to discuss the ways to empower sports activities in J&K.
During an hour-long meeting, Vice Chairman urged the Member of Parliament to provide us the basic infrastructural facilities in rural and urban areas.
Vice Chairman also discussed the multi-crore scam of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), besides discussing construction of International Standard Cricket Stadium which was supposed to be constructed by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Bajalta on the outskirts of Jammu city.
He told Mr Anurag that the proposed land was handed over by the State Govt to JKCA way back in 2005, but till date the construction work of the Stadium has not seen the light of day.
Citing the example of State’s iconic sportspersons like Chain Singh, Parvez Rasool and likes, Mr Sharma said J&K has immense sports talent but the need is to explore it by providing standard facilities to sportspersons.
Mr Thakur promised his full support and assured the Vice Chairman that he will take up the matter personally with the highest authority and solve it at an earliest.
Thakur further said that Govt under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in the ‘mantra’ of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’.
