Panic grips Chan Arorian as stranger moved with toy gun on NH

JAMMU, Jan 4: Panic gripped Chan Arorian area falling under the jurisdiction of Raj Bagh Police Station in Kathua district after a person was moving with a gun on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway this evening.
The Raj Bagh Police after getting the information swung into action and took the person under its custody. However after the verification the Police found that the gun possessed by him was a toy gun and the bullets were also the same.
SHO Rajbagh, Sarbjeet Singh said the person identified as Satpal S/o Munshi Ram of Bhour in Jammu tehsil was found to be a mentally retarded person who had gone for medical check up to S K R Hospital, Pathankot and he was returning from there to Jammu.
As the person had no money in his pocket he was travelling by foot from Lakhanpur.
But the people in Chan Arorian area became panicky after seeing the gun in his hand taking it for an original pistol. As police came to know of the matter it swung into action and took him into custody. But after verification it was found that he is a mentally retarded person as the gun being carried by him was a toy gun.
Police contacted his brother who is a businessman at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and later handed over the person to him. He said no case has been registered against the person.
