PCC chief asks youth cadre to gear up for Panchayat elections

JAMMU, Jan 11:  Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief GA Mir has asked  the cadre of Pradesh Youth Congress to get ready for the upcoming Panchayat  elections, although the PDP-BJP Government has weakened the Panchayati Raj system in the State.
Addressing a gathering of leaders and workers of Pradesh Youth at PCC headquarters here today, PCC chief asked the Youth Congress activists in the State to get ready for exposing the failures and misdeeds of the present coalition amongst the masses in order to educate them about their falsehood and double standards.
Mir said that  series of programmes and conventions would be organised in the days to come in all parts  of the State to reach out to the party cadres and people to expose the opportunist alliance which is total failure on all fronts and has brought large scale hardships to the people. He said that the party leaders and workers should leave no stone unturned to highlight the plight and problems of people of different sections and expose the Government and make it accountable both inside and outside the Assembly.
PCC senior vice president  Sham Lal Sharma, said that present PDP-BJP coalition  has weakened the Panchayati Raj System in the state by imposing indirect elections of the Sarpanchs. He said the Youth Congress is the backbone of the party and  asked its leaders and workers to extend their support to honest  and dedicated  youths who can serve better to the people through this basic institution of democracy.
He said that PDP and BJP who are ideologically and politically opposed to each other in all their fundamental issues and approach displayed the sheer lust for power to join hands leaving aside all their important commitments to their respective electorates.
PYC president, Pranav Shagotra  said that the Panchayat elections would be held  on non- political basis, the youths of the State have big role to play in it.  He assured the party leadership that PYC will  leave no stone unturned to expose the failures of present coalition in the State.
He further said that legalizing corruption and nepotism is only shining achievement of this regime. He said that except patronizing transfer industry BJP ministers in the coalition have done nothing for the people. He also expressed  deep concern over the deteriorating situation on the border and Line of Control with Pakistan as the unabated incidents of  ceasefire violations have  surpassed all past records.
