JAMMU, Jan 15: Working President of the National Conference and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah today said that collective efforts are must to steer the State of Jammu and Kashmir to peace and tranquility.
”J&K is passing through difficult times and there is need for a collective effort to steer it to peace and tranquility by maintaining religious and regional unity,” Dr Abdullah said here, while welcoming several prominent activists of Inderwal constituency into the partyfold, in presence of senior functionaries.
He exhorted the cadre to close their ranks for meeting challenges, confronting the State. Dr Abdullah recalled the key role played by the NC during the most testing times in making a turnaround in the situation and instilling a sense of security and safety among people. He also dwelt upon the party’s historical role during the most turbulent times. ”This spirit is needed to be invoked, to ensure a dignified and secure life for the people across the State,” he said, adding that the youth have to play their crucial role in this regard.
Welcoming the new entrants, the NC President exuded confidence that with the joining of public-spirited and dedicated people, the party will become stronger, at the grassroot level. NC is the natural choice for all those, who want the state to prosper as a peaceful and inclusive state, Dr Abdullah said.
”It is incumbent upon workers to reach out to the masses and highlight the policies and programmes of the National Conference, which stands for unity and single entity of the State,” he said and hoped that the cadre will perform their designated role in bringing about harmony in the State. The new entrants assured the leadership that they will work like foot-soldiers to disseminate the people-friendly policies of the NC.
