SRINAGAR: The Sadhna top, connecting border town of Tangdhar and other far flung and remote areas, including those near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara has been closed due to fresh snowfall since early Wednesday morning.
The road has become slippery due to fresh snowfall since early this morning, official sources said. Though only three inches of snow was recorded since this morning but to avoid any accident due to slippery road condition, traffic from both sides Kupwarra and Tangdhar has been suspended.
However, in case of any improvement in the weather and road condition, decision to resume traffic will be taken only after receiving green signal from the field staff, they said.
On January 7 this year eleven persons, including a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officer, were killed after snow avalanche swept them at Sadhna top.
However, a number of persons were rescued alive by the Army, police and locals. (AGENCIES)
