JAMMU, Jan 17: All J&K Diploma Engineers Association today held a meeting and strongly refuted the claims of graduate engineers and termed the recent outburst against the diploma engineers and the present establishment as ridiculous and mischievous to sabotage and scuttle the administration in delivering justice.
While addressing the meeting, Er Upinder Singh President of the Association cited the implementation of Government order with regard to the maintenance of the cadre strength which clearly states that quota for various source of appointments are prescribed under rules as percentage of total strength of posts available in that category and not of the vacancies that may be currently available to.
He demanded immediate release of promotion lists of Assistant Executive Engineers and Executive Engineers in favour of Diploma Engineers in all the engineering wings as there is a huge shot fall of Diploma Engineers in-Position in these categories. He told that 72 posts of Assistant Executive Engineer in Hydraulic posts in PW(R&B) and 52 posts in PDD are lying vacant out of the 20 per cent quota earmarked for Diploma Engineers. Similarly 18 posts in Hydraulic and 35 posts in PW(R&B) Department and 4 posts in Mechanical of Executive Engineers which are also lying vacant should be filled from the Diploma Cadre to maintain their cadre strength. He also demanded the release of 29 leftover posts of Assistant Engineer in Mechanical and 72 posts of Assistant Engineer in PDD under career progression scheme in favour of Diploma Engineers on the analogy of Hydraulic and PW(R&B) Department.
The members of the Association expressed their full faith in the present establishment and hope that the administration will maintain fair, transparent and realistic approach towards the genuine demands of Diploma Engineers.
Among others present were Er Anil Gupta, Chairman, JS, Rathore, Er Narinder Singh, Er Naresh Sawhney, Er Ram Lal Sharma and Er KK Sharma.
