SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Police today arrested a thief and recovered stolen property worth thousands of rupees from his possession here.
A police spokesman said that Police Post Hazratbal arrested a habitual thief identified as Waseem Parray, a resident of Sumbal at Habbak chowk during naka checking and recovered stolen property worth thousands of rupees that he had recently stolen from a shop at Dargah Hazratbal from his possession.
On further investigation, he confessed the theft and also disclosed the location where he had hidden tools of house breaking. It is pertinent to mention that the said individual is a habitual thief indulging in house breaking in Nigeen area.
A case with FIR Number 11/2018 under Section 457, 380 RPC was registered in this regard and investigation has been taken up.
