Bhardwaj’s new book released

JAMMU, Jan 19: A new collection of Dogri  poems ‘Fungaan’ by the poet-artist Rattan Bhardwaj  was released in an impressive function held at K L Saigal Hall here today in the presence of  writers , artists and intellectuals representing different languages.
Rashpal Verma, Vice Chairman, OBC Development Board, who graced the occasion as the chief guest,   released the 187 page book along with Rajiv Sharma, MLA Akhnoor, Dr Lalit Magotra, celebrated writer and Chhatrapal, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu. Published by Bhardwaj Prakashan, the collection incorporates 71 choicest poems.
Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Verma said that Rattan Bhardwaj’s poetry represents his love for nature, rich cultural heritage of Duggar and human values. Centuries old traditions have been conserved by various sections of our society including the backward classes, as art and literature is a common legacy of human race, he added.
Verma eulogized the role of Dogri Sanstha in enriching Dogri language, literature and culture and appealed to all Dogras to involve younger generation to adopt Dogri as their first tongue.
MLA Rajiv Sharma   congratulated the poet for his new book and said that Akhnoor sub division has produced many poets and artists who made historical contribution to Dogri literature.
Prof Lalit Magotra, who presided over the function, expressed his views on Dogri poetry of Bhardwaj.  On this occasion,  a paper that brought out salient features of the collection of poems in ‘Fungaan’ was also read by prominent critic and literary personality Prof  Veena Gupta highlighting the literary and aesthetic qualities of poems.
Poet Bhardwaj recited few poems from his new book and shared his writing process with audience.
Earlier welcoming the audience Chhatrapal said that humanistic approach to various issue confronting our contemporary society forms the core of Bhardwaj’s poetry. Dr Nirmal Vinod conducted the programme while Dr Chanchal Bhasin presented the vote of thanks.
