Retired police officers demand removal of pay anomalies

SRINAGAR, Jan 19:  Non-Gazetted retired police officers today alleged that the Government was not resolving their long pending issues including removal of pay anomalies.
The officers said they were hoping that Government would resolve their issues in the 7th Pay Commission. “Last time we met Finance Minister and Chief Minister and they promised us that they will address our grievances before 7th Pay Commission implementation. As the Government is implementing the 7th Pay Commission, we remind them of their promise,” they said.
The retired officers lamented that while implementing the 5th Pay Commission the Government has degraded their pay scale. “While fixation of pay and allotment of grades, Government has degraded pay scale of Non- Gazetted Police Officers for unknown and unjustified reasons. The issue was raised with the Government and a committee was framed to look into the disparity”, a retired officer said, adding after the recommendations of pay anomaly committee, the grades were upgraded but implementation was given prospective instead of retrospective effect”.
They said on the recommendations of the pay anomaly their pay scale was upgraded. “However, the up-gradation was done against the course of action and that was done only to a section of people. This is pure discrimination,” they said.
