LEH, Jan 21: Leh observed bandh over recovery of two explosive bombs near Kalchakara venue in Bodh Gaya. Two crude bombs were found near the Mahabodhi temple.
The Buddhist apex body Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and All Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA) called for Ladakh bandh including Leh, Zanskar, Changthang and Nobra region.
Peaceful bandh was observed to condemn the plantation of crude bombs at the Buddhist most sacred place which hurts the sentiment of Buddhist all over the world.
LBA and LGA in a joint memorandum submitted through Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa urged the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Bihar Chief Minister to hand over the case to independent investigating agencies like CBI in view of sensitiveness of the case.
They alleged that recovery of bombs is reminder of risk that was posed in 2013 serial bomb blasts within the Mahabodhi temple complex.
The memorandum also read that the people of Ladakh strongly condemn barbaric act of anti elements in Bodh Gaya. It further read that people of Ladakh particularly the Buddhist community are shocked to hear the news of recovery of two crude bombs planted at the Kalachakara teaching grounds and in its vicinity. It is believed that the bombs were planted to target the ocean of monks and nuns and thousands of devotees, who gathered to listen to the teachings of Holiness Dalai Lama at Kalachakara ground.
The people who planted bombs at the venue, are not only enemies of mankind but enemies to the very peaceful existence of the world and the entire people of Ladakh strongly condemn the barbaric act of anti-social elements in Bodh Gaya and demanded immediate action by the Government of Bihar and Central Government to nab the culprits and bring them to book under law. Such lapses in the security arrangements at places where so many devotees congregate and at the most sacred place of pilgrimage to the Buddhists can’t be tolerated, they added.
