JAMMU, Jan 21: Expres-sing grief over migration triggered from border area with most of the students of Jammu University getting displaced, National Secular Forum today appealed Chief Minister of the State, who happens to be Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University, to direct Vice Chancellor, JU to come forward for helping migrant students studying in the campus by accommodating them in available premises of the University.
Talking to media persons, here today, NSF State president Dr Vikas Sharma said that there should have been a spontaneous action of the university authority to express solidarity with the grieved migrant students instead of NGOs knocking the doors of higher authorities to awake university administration to protect the interests of its own students who are in a thick soup due to disturbances in the border areas.
Maintaining that specious buildings, halls and VC lodge were lying unused in the university, he suggested that the same could be used for accommodating the migrant students till the situation return to normal on the border.
Dr Vikas also appealed the CM Mehbooba Mufti to direct JU administration to throw open these buildings for the shelter of regular students of border areas and make required arrangements for their food and stay so that their studies and academic career do not suffer despite emotional and mental agony to them due to Pak shelling in their respective villages.
