Gujjar Bakerwal Conference holds protest, submits memorandum to Governor

JAMMU, Nov 25: Jammu Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwal Conference held a protest demonstration outside Governor House in support of their demands.
Amid slogans, members of Gujjar and Bakerwal community were demanding redressel to their long pending demands.
Addressing the gathering, leaders of Jammu Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwal Conference alleged that Government has betrayed the community in every walk of life and also denied the constitutional rights of the community.
Spokesmen of the organization, Dr Gafoor Ahmed and Akhter Hussain Khatan demanded implementation of National Policy of forest lands in J&K.
President of the conference Mohd Yaqoob and senior vice president Chirag Din demanded implementation of reservation policy in Rehbar-e-Taleem recruitment.
Later, the conference submitted memorandum to the Governor in which they demanded separate Gujjar regiment in the Army, inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th schedule of Constitution of India, starting of Gojri news bulletin on AIR and Doordarshan, spending of funds provided by the Union Government for Gujjar community, permanent settlement of nomad gujjars, besides other demands.
Among others present were Mishri Khan, Saif Ali, Anwar Chowdhary, Amir-ud-Din Kassana, Mohd Iqbal, Maulana Shah Mohd, Ghulam Ali, etc.
