Jammu, Nov 26: Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) conducted a week long light vehicle driving training for twelve unemployed youth at Keri. The aim of the training was to channelise the resourceful energy of youth in a constructive manner and make them qualified and self reliant.
Driving instructor was hired by the battalion, who familiarised the youth through various driving techniques starting from basics such as the correct seating position and steering wheel posture to the appropriate steering technique, avoidance manoeuvres, emergency and target braking, dynamic lane changes and deliberately induced under steering or over steering on bends. During driving training, youth were able to get a better feel to react in unexpected situations and develop acumen for expert control over the vehicle.
On the job training has helped the budding drivers to retain composure and remain clear headed, as well as apply knowledge in critical situations. It has increased their self confidence and control over vehicles. Efforts are on to get the driving licenses for them from RTO Office Rajouri so that it helps them to get employment.
Pervaiz Iqbal, resident of Doongi Brahmna village thanked the Army for having trained them and said that this was an excellent opportunity for them to learn new skills through first hand training and thereafter use this skill to supplement their income. People lauded the efforts of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in enabling and empowering the youth through this programme.
