JAMMU, Feb 9: Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, Prof Satnam Kour today honoured Karuna Majotra, a student of Institute of Music and Fine Arts who represented University of Jammu in ‘Lok Rang’ a festival of Folk Singing organized by Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi and secured 3rd position with an award of Rs 11,000.
She complemented Prof Poonam Chowdhary, Principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts for progressive orientation of the students so as to remain connected with their cultural roots.
She stressed that such cultural exchange tours play an important role in shaping the overall personality of the students and they shall utilize the experience gained from this event for further enhancement of their skills.
Different teams from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and J&K participated in the event where the team of the University of Jammu which consisted of Karuna Majotra (Participant) and Dr. Jasmeet Kour (Teacher Incharge) secured Third position.
It is pertinent to mention here that Karuna was trained by Suraj Singh and the event was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer).
