J&K Mountaineering Association selects 10 promising climbers

JAMMU, Nov 25: J&K’s promising medium fast bowler Ramdayal Punia showed application and rhythm in his long spell of 31.1 overs to capture 5 important wickets by conceding 63 runs against formidable Andhra Pradesh in 4-day Ranji Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
However, Andhra Pradesh scored a decent total of 390 runs in their first innings to gain a lead of 237 runs, thus putting themselves in a comfort zone. J&K were 13/0 at stumps on day-2.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 118/4, Andhra lost the wicket of in form batsman Amol Muzamdar in the very first over of the day bowled by speedster Ramdayal, who uprooted his stumps on a breach of a delivery on his overnight score of 63 runs. Then, Rahil Singh got rid of HH Vatekar at his individual score of 8 runs and teams total of 163 runs. This was followed by two fabulous half-centuries by lower-order batsmen Syed Shahabuddin (55) and RV Pawar (52), who partnered their skipper and overnight batsman AG Pradeeep in their essay of posting a good total. Finally the team managed to post a decent total of 390 runs in 112.1 overs, which included a magnificent century by Pradeep, studded with 17 delectable boundaries and one six. He struck all the shots with fluidity, grace and elegance. For J&K, Ramdayal was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 5 wickets, while Rahil Singh, Sahil Sharma, Manik Gupta, Hardeep Singh and skipper Ian Dev Singh claimed one wicket apiece. Ramdayal, in particular bowled his heart-out with a disciplined line and length and hit the right areas as per the demand of his coach and mentor. He along with Andhra’s Pradeep were the delight to watch today.
J&K openers Shubam Khajuria (4) and Munish Dogra (4) were at crease when the stumps were drawn today.
