JAMMU, Feb 10: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma has strongly condemned the National Conference MLA Mohd Akbar Lone for raising pro-Pakistan slogans in the Legislative Assembly and stressed that appropriate action must be taken against the Legislator.
“A serious cognizance should be taken in this regard as the action by NC MLA amounts to treason and poses a threat to democracy,” Sham Lal Sharma said in a statement, here this evening.
The senior Congress leader said that Akbar Lone’s action was not a slip of tongue but deliberate attempt, which was acknowledged by none but the MLA himself. “ Such an instigating and anti-national behaviour was  not expected from a senior Legislator, who has himself remained Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Cabinet Minister,” Sham Lal said and reminded that  being a Member of the House, Akbar Lone  had taken oath of  allegiance to India.
The Congress leader also condemned the other NC MLAs who did not stop Akbar Lone from raising pro-Pakistan slogans and instead tried to create ruckus in the House seeking an apology from the Speaker.
“There is no logic in Lone’s assertion that he had shouted pro-Pakistan slogans only in reaction to the BJP and Speaker,” Sham Lal said adding that such an anti-national behaviour was completely unacceptable to the peace loving nationalist people of this State.
