POONCH, Dec 1: Waryam Club will take on Kathua Club in the finals of the 17th Waryam Memorial Hockey Championship, being organized by Waryam Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K here today.
In the first match of the day, Waryam Club defeated Pritam Club by seven goals to zero (7-0).
For Waryam Club side, Captain Salil Raina, Matinderpal Singh, Gursharan Singh, Smiley, Lofty, Chani scored one goal each while two goals were netted by Amardeep Singh.
In another match of the day, Kathua Club thrashed Government Degree College by a solitary goal and sailed into the finals of the tournament.
After neck-to-neck fight, Digvijay of Kathua Club netted the goal in 62nd minute of the second half to seal a tough win for Kathua.
The matches were officiated by Narinder Singh, Harmik Singh, Ruchika Sharma, Amarjeet Singh, Ramanjot Singh, Kulwant Singh and Rajesh Sharma.
On the occasion, Ved Charlie, sportsman was the chief guest, while, Prem Parkash Luthra, Ex DYSSO, Advocate Satpal Singh, Surinder Singh, Mohd Tariq Khan, Chairman Shaheed DySP Manjeet Club, Rajinder Singh, Ex DYSSO, Pushkar Raj Sharma, Jasbir Singh, Gurdev Singh and other sportspersons were also present.
The tournament is being organised under the guidance of Hockey J&K president Romal Singh and Hockey India general secretary Narender Batra.
