JAMMU, Feb 27: Jammu club and SRML School registered emphatic win in T20 cricket event of the ongoing ‘JKS Range level Sports Festival’ which got underway at Parade Ground here today.
The JKS Range Level Sports Festival which includes the events namely Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kabbadi and Athletic for boys and Girls of under-19 level is being organized by Range Police Headquarters Jammu under Civic Action Programme under the overall supervision of DIG Jammu.
In the inauguration function Rafiq-Ul- Hasan, DIG Jammu was the chief guest, who inaugurated the tournament in presence of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu, who was the guest of honour.
Pawan Parihar SSP SO to DIG Jammu, Vinod Kumar SP City North, Ramesh Kotwal SP Headquarters Jammu, Shivdeep Singh SP Rural, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, DySP Headquarters Jammu Raj Pal Singh, DySP Pranav Gupta, DySP Varun Jandial,DySP Arun Jamwal, Vishal Sharma SHO City, Showkat SHO Peermitha, Dheeraj Nagpal SHO Pacca Danga, Rajesh Dhar, RP Singh, Vijay Saberwal and Manmeet Singh.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said the main objective of the J&K Police is to engage the boys and girls at school level in different sports activities throughout the year so that they become able to showcase their sports skills and maintain a positive view in both studies and sports.
He further said that as India is slowly heading towards the Sports Nation and there are lots of opportunities as career in sports and advised the participants to choose sports as a career and be fit and away from drugs.
Earlier, in the first match Jammu Club defeated Samba Cricket XI by 9 wickets.
Batting first, Samba XI scored 105 runs in 20 overs. Shivsagar (32), Lada (23) and Rishu (15) were the main scorers.
From Jammu Club, Musaif took 5 wickets, Martuwan bagged 2 wickets, while Praful and Sachin shared 1 wicket each.
Jammu Rising Club, in reply chased the target in 15.3 overs for the loss of 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Sarthak was the top scorer with 64 runs, while Musaif and Rohan Gill contributed 16 and 15 runs to the total respectively.
From Samba, Rishu took the lone wicket to fall. Sarthak was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match, SRML defeated GHS Samba in an easy contest.
Batting first, GHS Samba scored 105 runs in 16.4 overs. Manav (25), Raman (20) and Amit (18) were the main scorers.
From bowling side, Yogesh and Kanhaiya took 3 wickets each, while Vishal took 2 wickets and Abinav claimed one.
Batting second, SRML School achieved the target in 11.5 overs for the loss of 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Kanhaiya (59), Vivrant (26) and Jagjit (18) were the main scorers. From bowling side, Amit and Aryan shared 1 wicket each. Kanhaiya was adjudged as the man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Ashok, Sanju and Sandeep, while the proceedings of the inaugural function were conducted by RP Singh.
